In Conversation With... Katy Hurt

Katy Hurt
UK artist Katy Hurt

I'm delighted to share with you my first interview, this week I caught up with Katy Hurt about her life as a young artist in country music, growing up in America and the UK as well as her country music influences and latest news including her upcoming single 'Revved Up'.

I first met Katy at Country to Country this year, I was at a meet and greet private event with some artists and was talking to Chris Stevens from Chris Country and he introduced me to Katy. She was very friendly and invited me to watch her perform that day. I was blown away by her voice and I was so impressed at how confident and she mature she was.

Born in London, Katy was only two when her family moved to Long Island, New York and she lived there until she was seven and spent time travelling both the East and West Coast. Her family later moved to Windlesham in Surrey which inspired her song 'Small Town'. Now twenty one, Katy has already achieved so much; being asked to attend the ACM Songwriting and Artist Development programme, releasing EP's herself through pledge music and her single 'Part Time Girlfriend' reached no.2 of the UK Country chart and top 20 of the worldwide country listing. Her current single 'See Ya Later' has amassed over 90,000 streams on Spotify and can be heard on radio stations including Chris Country. With her band Gab Zsapka, (who is a co-writer and producer alongside Katy) and Ace and Steve Matthews supporting her on the road, Katy Hurt's future in music is looking bright.

So grab a cuppa, sit back and click below to listen to my chat with Katy. I asked a lot of questions so it's a fairly long but I can guarantee you, Katy's story is so interesting and gives inspiration for anyone hoping to become an artist and songwriter. Her next single 'Revved Up' is out 12 October.
